An original complete and named WW2/Korean War cased Army Commendation medal. The medal comes in its original case of issue together with its ribbon bar, lapel pin and forwarding card. The medal comes with a period original crimp brooch mechanism and its original ribbon. The Army Commendation Medal is name engraved with "Clifton A. Boyer".

 

Some info about Colonel Clifton Augustus Boyer:

 

United States Army Colonel Clifton Augustus Boyer (service number 13112387) was born October 7th 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated high school and worked at the Philadelphia Post Office as a mail carrier before his military career.

 

Clifton registered for the draft on June 30th 1942. Less than 2 months later he enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army on August 24th. He graduated Armor school and fought overseas arriving in Europe on July 16th 1943. He was promoted to Corporal and discharged after World War II on November 1st 1945 at Andrews Field, Maryland. He immediately re-enlisted and served through October 31st 1948. He was promoted to Sergeant and re-enlisted again July 1st 1948 through september 14th 1950. Sgt. Boyer enlisted the same day and served through March 31st 1952.

 

Sgt. Boyer re-enlisted June 5th 1952 and served with Headquarters Co. 68th Engineers Camp McCoy, Wisconsin during the Korean War. He was discharged as enlisted on October 2nd 1952, and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of Armor on October 23rd 1952. He was awarded this Commendation Medal for his service during the war. Lt. Boyer continued his service in the Army and was promoted to Captain of Armor on October 27th 1960. He was promoted Major and then Lt. Colonel while he was the Commander of First Squadron 223rd Cavalry. He was lastly promoted to Colonel and commanded the 664th Engineer Battalion.

 

United States Army Colonel Clifton Augustus Boyer passed away on July 14th 2003.

 

The set comes with a lot of research but this would still make an interesting research project to find out more about Boyer!
