WW2 Cased Numbered and Researched Purple Heart Medal, 34th Infantry Division (North Africa, May 1943)
- Type: Slot Brooch
An original WW2 numbered and researched cased Purple Heart medal. The medal comes in its original case of issue together with its ribbon bar. The medal (has a loose planchet), ribbon bar and case all remain in heavily worn/used condition. The medal comes with a slot brooch mechanism, and is numbered on the right rim with "85276" indicating the Purple Heart was produced in 1941 by the Robbins Company. The number on the Purple Heart is researched and was traced back to Private James L. Phillips (14097296) member of Company A, 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division. Phillips received his Purple Heart for being wounded in combat in North Africa in May 1943. Phillips got wounded due to artillery fragments in his arm and leg. Very nice historical researched set in worn condition! No repairs, no damage.
This Purple Heart set would make an excellent research project to find out more about Private Phillips!
The buyer will be provided with copies of the research.
